Monday, October 26th, 2009

I am still working on the second podcast, and will get it completed in October, but thought I would take an hour or two and write a Halloween poem.

Hope you enjoy it!

No one told me about all the pinning!

Friday, October 23rd, 2009

Last weekend I made my own cape. I was VERY nervous ’cause the last time I used a sewing machine it took me a long time to get all the damn thread out of my thumbnail. This time I got away with only a smashed finger! :)

The cape is black, took 6 yards of material, a LOT of bias tape (I now know what bias tape IS) and 10 hours of work (I was determined to get the damn thing done in 1 sitting). Many thanks to Jen and James for the use of their equipment and their patience. But, you know what? I thought sewing was all about sewing. Nooooooooo! It’s all about pinning! No one told me about all the damn pinning! 42 feet of bias tape takes a LOT of pinning! Still, no blood was shed, although it took a whole 6-pack to get through the ordeal.

I’m gonna look GOOD for Samhain! And if I screw up, it’s going to be hard to find me in the dark…

Upcoming Music

Wednesday, October 14th, 2009

Onna McOuat’s electronica take on Drowsy Maggie is the theme music for this podcast.  Thanks, Oona! Drowsy Maggie is an Irish Reel, but rather than let you think that’s all she plays, I’ve requested and gained permission to play several other tracks from her Honey and Holy Water CD.

Omnia NeoCelt has approved my request to play some of their music on the show! Dank u! If you’re not already familiar with Omnia, you should be. You can go here to download example tracks, courtesy of the band.

Drop Black Sky kindly sent me their CD “Ring Pass Notto pass on to one of y’all.  So, I’ll be taking any comments I receive through my contact form and entering their authors into a drawing for the CD.  I’ll announce the winner in my blog post and will email you to get your physical address.

Gaia Consort, now Bone Poets Orchestra, have put up most of their music for download here, and given me permission to use their music as well.  I just listened to Bone Poets first track, Gathering Light. Nice! Why don’t you go help Chris make things happen, by Adopting a Song!

And then there’s Damh the Bard! What can I say? I love his music and he’s allowing me to play some. Go Damh!

If you like the music you hear on Earth & Magick, why don’t you go to CD Baby, iTunes or some other venue to buy their albums?
